Delta Air Line Pilots Union Responds to CEO appointment

Atlanta, GA – Delta Air Line pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), responded to the appointment of Mr. Richard Anderson as the new CEO and Mr. Ed Bastian as president of the company.

Delta MEC Chairman, Captain Lee Moak said, “Over the past two years, we have seen tremendous change in our profession and our company. The selection of Mr. Anderson as Delta’s next CEO is the next milestone in Delta’s rebirth. Even in today’s difficult industry environment, I am optimistic about Delta’s ability to be a successful, profitable, and standalone airline.”

“The Delta pilots and all Delta employees made enormous sacrifices that have contributed significantly to Delta’s financial recovery. As a labor union, it is now more important than ever that ALPA continues to develop and pursue a policy of engagement with Delta’s senior executives. In a company whose lifeblood is integrally tied to the level of service provided to its customers, a professional relationship between management and labor is crucial. It is my sincere hope that Mr. Anderson and his new executive team share this view. Working together, we will build a successful, profitable and standalone Delta. That will be in the best interest of the Delta pilots, all Delta employees and our customers.”

Founded in 1931, ALPA represents 60,000 pilots at 41 airlines in the U.S. and Canada. ALPA represents approximately 6,800 active DAL pilots. Visit the ALPA website at http://www.alpa.org and the Delta pilots’ website at www.deltapilots.org.
