Delta Air Lines Pilots Respond to US Airways’ Withdrawal

Atlanta, GA – Delta Air Line pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), cautiously noted the withdrawal of the US Airways’ hostile merger attempt. The focus of the union will return to successfully exiting bankruptcy and monitoring the Company’s restructuring plans while also remaining attentive of any future threat.

Delta MEC Chairman, Captain Lee Moak said, “We are one step closer to our goal for Delta to be a successful, profitable airline, but the real victory will be exiting bankruptcy.”

The Delta pilots and all Delta employees made huge sacrifices that have contributed to the recovery and all indications are that Delta will exit as a strong competitor. “The Creditors’ Committee upheld their responsibility and fiduciary duty in examining Delta’ plan. But I also want to recognize the pilots, and all the employees, and I would like to say—you did it, you stood up and fought for your company when it was the right thing to do. This exemplifies the power of a group working together and this success is yours,” stated Moak.
