ALPA Statement on Bid to Take Over Delta Air Lines

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Capt. Duane E. Woerth, president of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l, issued the following statement in response to today’s announcement of a bid to takeover Delta Air Lines.

“We have long anticipated a takeover bid of at least one of the carriers currently in bankruptcy. There will be more developments in the long-predicted airline industry consolidation, and we will deal with them as they come. Pilots shouldn’t be surprised by today’s announcement, and ALPA will be intensely involved in defending our members’ interests as this deal and any others are considered.”

Founded in 1931, ALPA is the world’s largest pilot union, representing 61,000 pilots at 40 airlines in the United States and Canada. Visit the ALPA website at www.alpa.org.
