Delta Connection ALPA Pilots to Informational Picket on 4-Year Anniversary of
Negotiations
ATLANTA -- The pilots of Atlantic Southeast Airlines (NASDAQ:SKYW), represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), will conduct informational picketing on the upper level of the passenger drop-off area on the southeast side of Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Based in Atlanta, ASA operates solely as a “Delta Connection” carrier and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SkyWest, Inc., which is based in St. George, Utah.
Why:
Acknowledging Sept. 15th as the fourth anniversary of the commencement of their
collective bargaining efforts, the ASA pilots are picketing to demonstrate their
frustration with the lack of progress of the current contract negotiations. The
National Mediation Board (NMB) has placed these talks in an indefinite recess,
due to the distance between the current pilot and management proposals for the
open sections of the contract.
When:
Friday, September 15, 2006 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., EDT
Background:
The ASA pilots began negotiations with management in September 2002, when their
most current contract became amendable under the terms of the Railway Labor Act.
Negotiations have been conducted with the assistance of the NMB since May 2004.
Founded in 1931, ALPA is the world’s largest pilot union, representing 61,000
pilots at 40 airlines in the United States and Canada. Visit the ALPA website at
