FedEx Pilots’ Union Leadership Approves Tentative Contract
Agreement Now Goes Before FedEx Pilots for Ratification Vote

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The FedEx Master Executive Council (MEC), the governing body of the FedEx unit of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l. (ALPA), late yesterday approved the tentative contract agreement reached August 26 with FedEx management and unanimously recommended ratification by the FedEx pilots.

The agreement now goes before the approximately 4,100 FedEx pilots eligible to vote in balloting that is scheduled to begin Sept. 18 and close Oct. 17.

“If ratified by our members, FedEx pilots will have a contract that acknowledges their hard work and contributions to an industry-leading company – in pay, pension benefits, health care, and retiree medical coverage,” said Captain David Webb, chairman of the FedEx MEC. “We achieved these substantial improvements because pilots worked and stood together for the last four years of preparation and bargaining. The effort was led by an outstanding Negotiating Committee, chaired by Captain Bob Chimenti, and backed by ALPA’s resources.”

The new agreement provides industry-leading pay, improved retirement benefits for pilots through changes in both the defined benefit and defined contribution plans, and strengthened and enhanced work rules.

Day and night and 365 days a year, the 4,700 professional FedEx pilots--representing the air division of the FedEx brand and helping generate nearly two-thirds of FedEx Corporation’s annual revenue--fly to cities on five continents, making FedEx among the largest and most profitable airlines by any measure. Founded in 1931 and celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, ALPA represents 61,000 pilots at 40 airlines in the U.S. and Canada. Visit the ALPA website at http://www.alpa.org.
