Gemini Air Cargo ALPA Crewmembers Vote Down Labor Contract Amendments

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Crewmembers of Gemini Air Cargo, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), today declined to ratify the amendments to the labor contract reached last month. Of the 189 crewmembers eligible to vote, 86 percent participated with 66 percent voting against the amendments to the current collective bargaining agreement.

“The Gemini Air Cargo crewmembers were faced with the difficult decision of whether or to accept labor contract amendments that truly did not recognize their contributions to this company. Crewmembers also felt that the company’s current fragile economic position was a factor in determining whether these amendments were worthy of passage,” said Captain Bill Atchison, chairman of the Gemini Air Cargo ALPA unit. “Nevertheless, the membership has spoken and we must go forward now and take the first step of reviewing and understanding our crewmembers’ needs and continue to seek the necessary changes to our collective bargaining agreement.”

Gemini Air Cargo is a worldwide all-cargo carrier that operates a fleet of MD-11 and DC-10 freighter aircraft.

Founded in 1931, ALPA is the largest pilot union, representing 62,000 cockpit crewmembers at 40 airlines in the U.S. and Canada. Visit the ALPA Website at http://www.alpa.org.
