Delta Pilots Hold Atlanta Rally

ATLANTA --- The Delta pilots held an informational rally in Atlanta today. Nearly 1,000 pilots and their spouses attended to hear ALPA's president, Capt. Duane Woerth, and the Delta MEC chairman, Capt. Lee Moak. Emotions ran high and resolve was firm among the very vocal pilot body. Capt. Woerth rallied the pilot group regarding the “war” that the pilots are engaged in to protect their investment in Delta.

Other presenters included the Delta MEC Retirement and Insurance Committee chairman, Capt. Roger White, and Strike Preparedness Committee chairman, Capt. Mike Donatelli. Capt. White reviewed the details of the pension plans and their bleak future. Capt. Donatelli unified the attendees in their commitment to defend the contract. Capt. Moak said, “We have always stepped forward to respond to management’s legitimate needs. We stand ready to negotiate a consensual resolution, but let me make this point clear: We will not willingly work without a contract.”

Founded in 1931, ALPA represents 63,000 pilots at 40 airlines in the U.S. and Canada. The Delta MEC represents 6,500 Delta Air Line pilots. Visit the ALPA website at http://www.alpa.org.
