Captain Bathurst Reelected Chairman of United Chapter of ALPA

CHICAGO, ILL. -- Captain Mark Bathurst, a Los Angeles-based B-767 Captain, was reelected today to a two-year term as Master Chairman of the United Master Executive Council. Captain Bathurst, a long-time pilot volunteer with the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), will begin his second term on January 1, 2006.

Vice Chairman Captain Wendy Morse and Secretary-Treasurer Captain Mike Hamilton, both Chicago-based United pilots, also were reelected by the Master Executive Council.

"This is a crucial time for the pilots of United Airlines, with many challenges ahead as we approach exit from bankruptcy," said Captain Bathurst. "This pilot group provided the financial means and leadership to carry this airline through the most difficult economic challenges in its history.

"During the past three years the pilots of United Airlines have made enormous sacrifices to return United to profitability and regain its rightful place as one of the world's preeminent airlines. In return, the Company must adhere to the Bankruptcy Agreement ratified by the pilots earlier this year. Recognizing the sacrifices this pilot group has made is essential as we all work to ensure a healthy future for our airline."

The United Master Executive Council of the Air Line Pilots Association represents the 6400 active pilots of United Airlines.
