ALPA Emergency Relief Fund Delivers

September 13 -- The ALPA Emergency Relief Fund has made grants of financial assistance to 13 ALPA members whose lives have been adversely affected by Hurricane Katrina. ALPA was able to provide the much-needed assistance just one week after the storm devastated much of the Gulf Coast, leaving many residents of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama homeless, jobless, and with nowhere to turn.

The Association and its member pilots responded quickly to the plight of ALPA members who had been affected. The Fund’s officers met on Monday to consider and approve applications for assistance, and then began disbursing funds right away. So far, the Fund has made grants of between $2000 and $2500 to help members with immediate needs. ALPA members who received the assistance fly for American Eagle, Continental, Delta, FedEx Express, United, and US Airways.

The ALPA Emergency Relief Fund was created in the first few days following Hurricane Katrina. The Fund provides financial assistance to ALPA members and their families who have suffered a disaster.
