Delta Pilots' Union Elects New Officers

ATLANTA --- The Delta pilots’ union, today elected new officers to two-year terms in conjunction with the normal election cycle. The Delta MEC Executive Council, a unit of the Air Line Pilots Association, elected Captain Lee Moak, an Atlanta- based B-737-800 pilot, to the position of MEC Chairman. Captain Tim Canoll, an Atlanta-based B-737-800 pilot, was elected MEC Vice Chairman; and Captain Kingsley Roberts, an Atlanta-based B-737-800 pilot, was elected Secretary-Treasurer. The officers will assume their new duties on October 1st.

Capt. Moak has held key union positions since being hired by Delta in 1988. He has served as First Officer LEC representative for New Orleans based pilots, a member of the Strategic Planning Committee for Contract 2000, a member of the Strike Committee for Contract 1996 and as MEC Executive Administrator. Prior to coming to Delta, he served nine years in the Marine Corps and is a retired commander of the Navy Reserves. While on military duty, he flew F-4s, A-7s and F-18s. 

Capt. Canoll, hired by Delta in 1990, has served ALPA as the New Orleans base Second Officer LEC representative, a member of the Family Awareness & Strike Committee, MEC Security Coordinator, chairman of the MEC Strategic Planning Committee, and a member of the Negotiating Committee. He served in the Navy on active duty for seven years flying F-18s and A-7s and is currently a Captain in the Navy Reserves. 

Capt. Roberts was hired by Delta in 1988 after a seven and a half year career in the Air Force flying C-130s. Roberts has served ALPA as the Atlanta Strike Center Office Manager, Delta Pilot Network Chairman, and most recently MEC Communications Chairman.

“I am sincerely humble at being elected the Delta pilots Master Chairman,” stated Capt. Moak, “The team of officers elected will lead with professional strength. I look forward to working for and with all Delta pilots as we move through these difficult and trying times. I recognize we have a tremendous challenge on the horizon, but as the strong unified body we are, we will be prepared to meet that challenge.”
