Midwest Pilots Target “Busiest Travel Day” to Informational Picket

Midwest pilots invite all ALPA pilots to join them for informational picketing and leafleting at Milwaukee’s General Mitchell Airport (MKE) on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008. Traditionally the busiest travel day of the year, Midwest pilots see this as an ideal opportunity to reach the most travelers and educate them about their fight to protect their jobs. The pilots are looking for a large turnout of ALPA members to take part—the support from ALPA and fellow pilots continues to be important in this campaign.

Picketing in front of MKE and leafleting inside the airport will start at 0530 LCL and will conclude at 0715 LCL. Participating pilots should meet in the Sijan conference room (located on the second floor of the terminal at the back wall of the Museum of Flight) at 0500 LCL.

Wear your winter uniform with hat, ALPA lanyard, and ALPA pin. Gloves and ear muffs are acceptable if the weather requires them. If you have any questions concerning this event, contact Capt. Jon Beard, the Midwest SPC chairman, at 414-704-2916.

The Midwest pilots’ fight against management outsourcing their jobs continues to generate a lot of support from Midwest customers and the Milwaukee community. The pilots have been running a series of ads in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and radio spots on FM 102.1, an alternative music station in Milwaukee, to encourage the public to support their cause by contacting the airline’s CEO and learning more about pilot efforts by visiting the Midwest pilots’ website, www.DontOutsourceMidwest.com.
