URGENT NEWS ADVISORY
Trans States Pilots to Conduct Informational
Picketing
Protest Management’s Reluctance to Earnestly Participate in Process
ST. LOUIS—Trans States Airlines pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), on Wednesday, November 19, will conduct informational picketing at Lambert St. Louis International Airport. Pilots are protesting management’s refusal to earnestly participate in the negotiations process and to recognize the pilots’ contributions to the continued success of Trans States.
Why:
Trans States management has continued to undermine the negotiations process by
attending sessions unprepared and unwilling to discuss mutually beneficial
changes in the contract.
When:
Wednesday, November 19, Noon to 3 p.m. (Central)
Where:
Lambert St. Louis International Airport; East of Entry MT-5 and West of Entry
MT-2
Background:
Trans States pilots and management have been negotiating for a new contract
since February 2006. Despite nearly three years of negotiations, both sides
remain far apart on key contract issues. TSA pilots are paid 7% to 23% below
industry-average wages for pilots at airlines of comparable size providing
comparable service.
Founded in 1931, ALPA is the world’s largest pilot union, representing 53,000 pilots at 37 airlines in the United States and Canada, including more than 440 pilots who fly for Trans States. Visit the ALPA website at www.alpa.org.
