FedEx Pilots to Hold Demonstration in Support of Contract Negotiations

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- To show their frustration with the slow pace of ongoing contract negotiations and their unified support of the union Negotiating Committee, FedEx pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l. (ALPA), will hold a Negotiations Unity Demonstration in Memphis on Thursday, June 23. The pilots have been working without a new contract for more than a year.

“After 15 months of negotiations with FedEx, our pilots are growing increasingly frustrated with management’s inability to seriously address our issues at the negotiating table,” said Captain David Webb, chairman of the FedEx unit of ALPA. “Management needs to understand that making below-inflation pay rate offers that don’t address the cornerstone issues our pilots have said are critical in this contract--work rules, job security, retirement security, and health care--is not the way to successfully conclude these negotiations.”
