Continental Airlines Capt. Stuart Cory Receives ALPA’s Airport Liaison Representative Award
Medina, Ohio pilot recognized for increasing lines of communication

WASHINGTON—The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) will recognize Continental Airlines Capt. Stuart Cory with the Outstanding Airport Liaison Representative (ALR) Award at the 54th Annual Air Safety and Security Forum, held in Washington, D.C.

“Capt. Cory protects the traveling public’s safety at the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport with the zeal of a dedicated ALPA safety representative,” said Capt. Bob Perkins, ALPA’s airport ground environment (AGE) group chairman. “His efforts in keeping the entire ALPA membership informed about the airport’s construction helped raise all pilots’ awareness of the resulting runway incursion hazards.”

Capt. Cory serves as the ALPA ALR for the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) in Cleveland, Ohio and continues to foster productive communication with CLE airport management, air traffic control, and other stakeholders regarding many relevant aviation safety concerns.

“The dedicated efforts of Capt. Cory are no surprise to the Continental pilots and fellow volunteers who know him. His interest in promoting safety, one of ALPA’s founding cornerstones, is paramount. I can think of no better recipient for ALPA’s ALR award,” said CAL Master Executive Council Chairman Capt. Jay Pierce.

Capt. Cory hails from Medina, Ohio and has been an airline pilot for 15 years. He has served as the Cleveland ALR since May 2006, and has been an active union member since 1994.

ALPA’s AGE Group selects Outstanding Airport Liaison Representatives from nominations made by ALPA’s Regional Safety Chairmen, Coordinators, and other ALRs, who represent pilots’ interests at more than 200 commercial airports in the U.S. and Canada. ALPA honors ALRs who initiate appropriate actions that result in improved airport policy and practices, including the correction of airport design and technology deficiencies.

Founded in 1931, ALPA represents 55,000 pilots at 40 airlines in the U.S. and Canada. Visit www.alpa.org for more information.
