Palm Springs, Calif. pilot recognized for improving airport practices

WASHINGTON—The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) will recognize United Airlines First Officer (F/O) Tim Albert with the Outstanding Airport Liaison Representative (ALR) Award at the 54th Annual Air Safety and Security Forum, held in Washington, D.C.

“First Officer Albert protects airline pilots’ interest at the Palm Springs International Airport with the heart and soul of a true safety leader,” said Capt. Bob Perkins, ALPA’s airport ground environment (AGE) group chairman. “He deserves a pat on the back for volunteering his personal time to improve the overall safety of the traveling public—on the ground and in the sky.”

F/O Albert serves as the ALPA ALR for the Palm Springs International Airport in Palm Springs, Calif. and serves on the Airport Commission, a nineteen-member body made up of representatives from cities throughout the Coachella Valley.

“First Officer Albert follows a long line of United pilots who have been pioneers in the field of aviation safety,” said UAL Master Executive Council Chairman Capt. Steve Wallach. “His dedication and work toward promoting safety carries on a long-standing tradition at United Airlines.”

F/O Albert hails from Palm Springs, Calif. and has been a United pilot for 15 years. He has served as the Palm Springs ALR since February 2007, and has been an active union member since 1993.

ALPA’s AGE Group selects Outstanding Airport Liaison Representatives from nominations made by ALPA’s Regional Safety Chairmen, Coordinators, and other ALRs, who represent pilots’ interests at more than 200 commercial airports in the U.S. and Canada. ALPA honors ALRs who initiate appropriate actions that result in improved airport policy and practices, including the correction of airport design and technology deficiencies.

Founded in 1931, ALPA represents 55,000 pilots at 40 airlines in the U.S. and Canada. Visit www.alpa.org for more information.
