Delta Air Lines Pilots Come to the Aid

ATLANTA – Captain Lee Moak, master chairman of the Delta Air Lines pilots union, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), recently transmitted a donation on behalf of the Delta MEC and the Delta pilots to the ALPA Emergency Relief Fund in the amount of $25,000.

The ALPA pilot membership has frequently been touched by disaster over the last few years. The Relief Fund efforts to assist those who suffered from Katrina, Rita and the tornadoes in the Florida area were welcome and timely. Most recently, the catastrophic California wildfires have affected many ALPA pilots.

Capt. Moak states, “The Delta Pilots Furlough/Emergency Relief Fund has benefited from the generosity of our fellow Delta pilots, responsive to emergency needs of their brothers and sisters. From this fund, the Delta MEC authorized the donation so that financial hardship as a result of the wildfires can be quickly addressed for those in need. I am thankful that the AERF exists and that the Delta MEC has the ability to respond to the need and to extend a fraternal helping hand as an outreach from the Delta pilots.”

Founded in 1931, ALPA represents more than 60,000 pilots at 42 airlines in the U.S. and Canada. ALPA represents approximately 7,000 active DAL pilots. Visit the ALPA website at http://www.alpa.org and the Delta pilots’ website at www.deltapilots.org.
