Houston, TX – ExpressJet pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), voted today to ratify a new contract with ExpressJet Airlines. Contract negotiations with ExpressJet management have been ongoing since July, 2002.

With 94% of the ExpressJet pilot group casting a vote for this new contract, which becomes amendable on Dec. 1, 2008, it was ratified with an approval rating of 61%. Issues of concern for ExpressJet pilots included job protection, pilot scheduling, benefits and compensation.

ExpressJet pilots (dba Continental Express) will see improvements in nearly every section of their contract including job protection, benefits, training and compensation. "We are very excited that ExpressJet management has recognized the efforts of our pilot group in making ExpressJet Airlines successful," said Capt. Mark Leneski, chairman of the ExpressJet Master Executive Council.

ExpressJet pilots safely transport more than 50,000 passengers to more than 130 destinations daily on a growing fleet of state-of-the-art Embraer jets. These destinations range from St. Johns, Newfoundland, to Acapulco, Mexico, including the Caribbean. ExpressJet Airlines is the sole provider of small jet service for Continental Airlines in that company’s hubs in Newark, Cleveland and Houston, and is the largest small jet operator in the world.

The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) is the bargaining agent for the 2,500 professional pilots of ExpressJet Airlines. ALPA is the world’s oldest and largest pilot union, representing 64,000 airline pilots at 43 airlines in the U.S. and Canada. Its website is located at www.alpa.org.
