Comair Pilots Reach Tentative Agreement

CINCINNATI, OH—Union leaders for the Comair pilots, as represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), have reached a tentative agreement (TA) that would assist Comair and Delta in their planned emergence from bankruptcy.

The agreement is subject to ratification by the Comair Master Executive Council (MEC) and the pilots, as well as final approval by ALPA’s President. If accepted and ratified, the agreement would be submitted to the bankruptcy court for its approval. ALPA and the company have also agreed to extend the current standstill agreement until March 4 to allow for ratification.

“Our goal throughout these negotiations has been to achieve a fair, equitable, and consensual agreement,” said Capt. J.C. Lawson, chairman of the Comair Master Executive Council. “We worked very hard on behalf of our pilots to reach this agreement.”

The TA marks the Comair pilots’ most recent effort to help Comair and Delta Air Lines emerge from bankruptcy. Over the past year and a half, Comair pilots have made significant sacrifices in order to keep their company financially solvent. In early 2005, the pilots agreed to $11 million in annual concessions to help their airline better manage its finances.
