ALPA Statement on US Airways Bankruptcy Filing

PITTSBURGH—In response to US Airways’ September 12, 2004 statement announcing the company’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, MEC Chairman Bill Pollock released the following statement:

“I am very disappointed that US Airways is again restructuring through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. The pilots of US Airways have already provided more than $5 billion worth of concessions to the Company to support its previous restructuring efforts to ensure US Airways’ return to profitability.

“We are currently engaged in Transformation Plan negotiations with management, and I fully expect these talks to continue during the Company’s reorganization efforts.”

ALPA is the world’s oldest and largest pilot union, representing 64,000 airline pilots at 42 airlines in the U.S. and Canada. ALPA’s website is www.alpa.org
