Statement by United MEC Chairman Captain Mark Bathurst Regarding United’s Announcement Today of the Recall of 40 Pilots

“United’s announcement today of the recall of 40 pilots is certainly good news for all United pilots, and hopefully is the first of a series of recalls that will lead to the return to the property all of our 2,172 furloughed brothers and sisters.

“We are pleased that the Company finally recognized what our System Schedule Committee has been saying over the past year: that there has been and will continue to be a serious shortage of pilots, as evidenced by a number of cancellations resulting from crew shortages this summer. We will continue to work with the Company to ensure proper pilot staffing levels.”
