Captain W. Randolph Helling, Vice-President–Finance/Treasurer

Capt. W. Randolph Helling (Delta) serves as ALPA's vice-president–finance/treasurer. He was elected and assumed office May 28, 2008, having previously served as executive administrator to ALPA's president Capt. John Prater (Continental). Helling oversees the financial and fiscal administration of the union.

“I am a firm believer in Capt. Prater's vision and mission for ALPA and in his interest in having the Association represent all airline pilots within the United States and Canada,” says Helling. “A single organization can better serve the needs and interests of the pilot profession.”

Currently a Delta A320 captain, Helling has also flown the DC-9, DC-10, and B-727 during his 22 years with the airline.

Helling has served on the Northwest MEC's Professional Standards, Training, Legislative Affairs, and Finance Review Committees. He was elected MEC vice-chairman in 2006 and served as secretary/treasurer and vice-chairman of the pilot group's Detroit Local Council. He also participated as a member of ALPA's National Hearing Board from 2000 to 2006. Before joining Northwest, he flew for Air Midwest.

Helling resides in St. Louis with his wife of 26 years, Amy, and their four children. He has a B.S. from Parks College of Engineering, Aviation, and Technology of St. Louis University.
