ALPA Announces 2006 Air Safety Forum
Pilots’ union turns 75; aviation safety and security experts gather July 26-27 in Washington, D.C.

These critical questions will be front and center at the ALPA Air Safety Forum, which is among the highlights of a week-long commemoration of ALPA’s 75th anniversary.

The 2006 Air Safety Forum will gather leading aviation safety and security experts to discuss the latest developments, trends, and technologies in the airline industry. Issues that ALPA experts will cover include: mounting concern about pilot fatigue; making airport runways safer; better understanding the human factors involved in increasingly rare aviation accidents; enhancing cargo safety and security; and safely building air transportation capacity to meet future traffic. The Air Safety Awards Banquet, the Forum finale, will recognize excellence in the piloting profession.

Wednesday, July 26
ALPA’s Annual Air Safety Forum begins at 1:00 p.m. and the day features remarks by the Honorable James Oberstar – Ranking Member, Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, U.S. House of Representatives (Invited); Canadian Minister of Transport, Lawrence Cannon (Invited); and Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for the Transportation Security Administration Kip Hawley (Invited)

Thursday, July 27 -- ALPA’s 75th Anniversary
Expert panels continue all day; Air Safety Awards banquet at 6:00 p.m. closes the Forum

All events will be held at the Capital Hilton, 1001 16th Street, NW, Washington, D.C. A full agenda will be available in the coming weeks.
