Air Transat Pilots Reach Agreement with Company

MONTREAL -- Air Transat's pilot group, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), has reached a tentative agreement with the company that will improve working conditions and pay the pilots a competitive salary.

The pilot group, led by Master Executive Council (MEC) Chair Martin Gauthier, engaged in 13 negotiating sessions with the company, beginning in September 2005. The new contract replaces an agreement that expired in November 2005. It is the third ALPA-produced contract for the pilot group.

According to Captain Gauthier, "We are extremely pleased with this deal and believe both sides will benefit from the contract." He went on to add, "Under this agreement, our pilots will experience improved working conditions and stable salaries at a time when many pilot groups are making very difficult choices. This contract will position the company and our pilots for future growth."

The Air Transat pilots will begin voting on the agreement in mid-January.

Founded in 1931, ALPA is the world's largest pilot union representing 63,000 cockpit crewmembers at 40 airlines in the U.S. and Canada. Visit the ALPA Web site at www.alpa.org
