FedEx Pilots to Conduct Nationwide Informational Picketing
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Now in their 20th month of contract negotiations, FedEx pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), will conduct informational picketing on Friday, November 11, in 12 cities across the United States to show their continuing frustration with management’s inability to legitimately address the pilots’ issues in negotiations. The pilots have been working without a new contract for more than a year and this week the two sides began negotiations under the auspices of the National Mediation Board (NMB).
“Instead of legitimately negotiating with the pilots, FedEx management has chosen to request the NMB’s assistance and bring us closer to a potential confrontation,” said Captain David Webb, chairman of the FedEx unit of ALPA. “In spite of management’s actions, the pilots have been and will remain committed to achieving a responsible negotiated agreement that recognizes our contributions to FedEx’s remarkable profitability.”
