Striking Polar Air Cargo ALPA Crewmembers to Conduct Picketing at Shareholders’ Meeting

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Striking Polar Air Cargo crewmembers, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), will conduct picketing outside the company shareholders’ meeting today. Polar and its sister company, Atlas Air Inc., are wholly owned subsidiaries of Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc. (OTC: AAWW.PK). Polar crewmembers went on strike at 12:01 a.m. Friday, September 16th after the company refused to agree to fair terms on wages.

Why: The crewmembers are picketing the shareholders’ meeting while on strike demanding a fair and equitable contract with fair wages.
When and Where:	Today, Monday, September 19, 2005
	9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT
	Crewmembers will be in front of the Omni Berkshire Place Hotel, 21 E. 52nd Street at Madison Ave, New York City.
Background: The Polar crewmembers began negotiations with management in February 2003, when their most current contract became amendable under the terms of the Railway Labor Act. Negotiations have been conducted with the assistance of the National Mediation Board (NMB) since July 2003. The NMB released both parties into a 30-day cooling-off period on August 15th. Polar Air Cargo crewmembers went on strike on September 16th after they and management could not agree on a fair and equitable contract. As of this date no further talks are scheduled.
