Delta Pilots Respond to Bankruptcy Announcement

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Delta pilots regret that our company, Delta Airlines, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection today. However, this is our company and we intend to emerge successfully and profitably. We will be aggressive in participating in a fair and equitable process. In order to achieve a successful business plan, Delta must go beyond cutting employee pay and benefits. They must increase revenue and restructure their debt.

The Delta pilots have, throughout our history, helped our company in the time of need. All stakeholders must participate in Delta’s recovery. It is time for management to turn this company around. On behalf of all Delta employees, their families and loyal Delta passengers we challenge them to be up to the task.

Founded in 1931, ALPA represents 64,000 pilots at 41 airlines in the U.S. and Canada. Visit the ALPA website at http://www.alpa.org.
