ALPA Commends Selection of Rep. Hilda L. Solis as U.S. Labor Secretary

WASHINGTON – Capt. John Prater, president of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l, issued the following statement in response to the appointment of Congresswoman Hilda L. Solis (D-Calif.) as the next U.S. Secretary of Labor.

“Congresswoman Hilda L. Solis has a well-earned reputation as a staunch advocate for this country’s working men and women. As a strong supporter of workers’ rights to organize, her appointment means that U.S. workers will have a champion in the administration to defend their interests.

“ALPA’s more than 53,000 pilots join the members of the AFL-CIO in congratulating Rep. Solis. We look forward to working with her and with the new administration on the issues that matter most to America’s workers.”

Founded in 1931, ALPA is the world’s largest pilots union representing 53,000 pilots at 37 airlines in the United States and Canada.
