ATA Airlines Flight Crewmembers Approve $12 Million Concessions Package

CHICAGO --- ATA Airlines flight deck crewmembers, as represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) have voted to accept a $12 million temporary concessions proposal. Out of the 790 pilots and flight engineers who voted, 78 percent voted in favor of the agreement.

The 120-day Emergency Relief Agreement will cut pay across the board by 20 percent, cut company contributions to a crewmember retirement fund by 50 percent, and change some productivity and work rules. The cuts are effective from Feb. 1, 2005 and will run until May 30, 2005.

In response to the approval vote, ATA Airlines Master Executive Council Chairman, Capt. Erik Engdahl, issued the following statement:

"Today's results prove our crewmembers have renewed confidence in the direction our new management has taken to save our airline. Our crewmembers have sent a clear message to Wall Street that we are willing to be part of the new ATA, and work hard to make our codeshare agreement with Southwest Airlines succeed," Engdahl said.

Founded in 1931, ALPA is the world's oldest and largest pilot union and represents 64,000 airline pilots at 42 airlines in the U.S. and Canada. Visit the ALPA website at www.alpa.org.
