Save the Date: Operation Full-Court Press

Love Basketball? Like Protesting Against Management? Will you be in New York on a layover on January 15? We need you at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

On Tuesday, January 15, Champion pilots will be picketing the Wizards/Knicks game and you need to help them send their management team a message to stop crying “Foul” and calling “Time Out.” It’s a new year and a new opportunity to stand up to a management team that disrespects the profession and refuses to pay professional wages.

Picketing will be conducted from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., and all picketers are invited to attend the game after the demonstration. Champion Air flies 13 NBA teams, including the Wizards.

Champion Air pilots and management have been negotiating since January 2005 and were joined by a mediator in September 2005. However, there have been no sessions held since September. In October, Champion management requested that the NMB recess the mediated negotiations. In response, the NMB indicated that a recess was not appropriate at the time and instructed ALPA to be ready to return to the bargaining table early in 2008.

The game tips off at 7:30. Please contact Matt Marsh at Matt.Marsh@alpa.org or 952-853-9591 to RSVP no later than January 8.
